Alen F Wheeler of Fairport, NY passed away at the age of 84 on November 1, 2023 at the Fairport Baptist Home with his beloved wife Sandy by his side.
Alen was born August 16, 1939 to Ruth and Raymond Wheeler of Hamlin, NY.
He graduated from Brockport High School in 1958.
Alen enjoyed interacting with many people. He held many leadership positions in church; was a lifetime scouter receiving his Eagle and God and Country awards; loved growing his beard so he could be Santa Claus and sometimes working with his wife as Mrs. Claus. He loved a good game of golf and doing beautiful woodworking projects including making a grandmother’s clock.
After working for 25 years at Kodak, his retirement including several jobs including working as a teacher’s aide in the metal shop and assisted, as needed, in the woodshop at Monroe #1 BOCES. He also loved being a crossing guard on the corner of Potter and Hulburt in Fairport for 10 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Sandy. His son, Todd (Beth); a daughter-in-law, Sandy (South Carolina) and a sister, Donna (Texas). Wonderful grandchildren Maxwell and Benjamin (Ohio); twins Jessica and Ashley (South Carolina) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Kevin (South Carolina) at the young age of 53.
Friends and Family will be received for Calling Hours at Richard Keenan Funeral Home (7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd. Fairport, NY.) on Thursday, November 16th from 4-6 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10am on Friday, November 17th at the Pittsford Palmyra Community Church (421 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY.)
Officiating Pastors will be Erik Olsen and Chris Arcadi.
