Sheryl Allen Wolcott
September 26, 1977 – April 8, 2025
Fairport – Sheryl “Sherry” Allen Wolcott, 47, of Fairport, NY, passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on September 26, 1977, in Loveland, Colorado, Sherry was the beloved youngest daughter of Paul and Susan Allen. Paul was an employee of the Eastman Kodak company, and Sue was an educator. In the early 1980’s, the family relocated back to the Penfield area where the kids were raised.
A 1995 graduate of Penfield High School, Sherry participated in soccer and track and field. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 1999. While at Ithaca, she continued to pursue her passion for soccer as a member of the women’s team. Sherry truly loved her profession, and over her 25-year work career, she touched countless lives as a compassionate and skilled physical therapist, serving patients at Rochester General Hospital and throughout Monroe and Wayne Counties.
Sherry married the love of her life, Kyle Wolcott, on May 3, 2003, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Rochester, four years after an invite from a mutual friend to meet each other at Jack Astor’s restaurant in Henrietta,. Family was Sherry’s heart and soul. She cherished vacations—especially at Keuka Lake—as well as supporting her kids from the sidelines or stands, and celebrating their various accomplishments. She was fiercely proud of them and enjoyed sharing their stories with others. Outside of family, close contenders for her affection were desserts-particularly those brought to holiday gatherings. In this sense, Sherry was an easy target for those that vied for her approval. She also was a devoted customer of Dunkin Donuts, both at home and on the road. Please find time to support them as they will undoubtedly see a hit to their revenue in the coming months.
Sherry was a lifelong Buffalo fan and loyal supporter of Penn State football. She could be found with family on fall weekends rooting for the Nittany Lions or supporting the Bills Mafia. Sherry coached many youth soccer teams and continued playing in adult leagues for years. Her greatest athletic love, however, was running—no distance was ever too far, no terrain too difficult. Sherry set lofty goals, and had a recent desire to run half-marathons in each of the fifty states. Knowing Sherry this would have happened, and surely would have taken her family and friends on some epic adventures in the coming years
Sherry’s radiant and infectious smile, warm spirit, and ability to put others at ease made her a joy to be around. She loved humor-whether it be jokes, comedy movies, witty puns during long runs, or even the self-deprecating variety. She was known to occasionally cave in and even laugh at her husband’s sarcasm, of which she was relentlessly subjected. Sherry brought positivity and happiness wherever she went, choosing grace and finding good in others. Even during her illness, she gave selflessly and was reluctant to accept help—often apologizing even as others rallied around her. Sherry refused to recognize personal challenges as excuses- running a full nine months after diagnosis and working full time up to the time she entered palliative care. She was an amazing role model for her children and an inspiration to so many others.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Kyle Wolcott, and their three cherished children—Brody, Teague, and Aubreanne—of Fairport, NY. She is also survived by her loving parents, Paul and Sue Allen of Penfield, NY; her mother-in-law, Linda (Bruce) Wolcott of Victor, NY; and her sisters, Karen (Mike) Denison of Limerick, PA, and Cynthia (Phil) Gaeta of East Amherst, NY. She leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Kim (Steve) Young of Orlando, FL, and Karen (Jeff) Parker of Honeoye Falls, NY, as well as several surviving aunts. Sherry will be deeply missed by her adoring nieces and nephews: Haley, Hannah, and Aiden Denison; Carter and Eviana Gaeta; Acadia and Cole Parker; and Zachary and Brandon Young.
Throughout her illness, her family is profoundly grateful for the overwhelming support from the Fairport community “Support Squad”, her “sisters”, running friends, colleagues at Rochester Regional Health, and her husband’s employer, the Norman Howard School. Your love did not go unnoticed.
Though taken too soon, Sherry’s light continues to shine in the lives of all who knew her. Her spirit will forever guide us—always in our hearts, cheering us across every finish line. In honor of Sherry’s spirit, take a run or walk and choose kindness!
Visitation will be held on May 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road. A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held July 10, 2025 from 4pm-9pm at Perinton Park, 99 O’Connor Road in Fairport, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made in Sherry’s name to:

A lovely inspiring walk through memories of a cherished young woman. God Bless
My heart goes out to all of Sherry’s loved ones. I wish I could attend the Celebration of Life for her, but I will be in Utica, running the Boilermaker that weekend, and I will be running with her in mind the whole time. I will always remember the way her eyes would light up whenever we brought out the chocolate basket during the good old days at RGH…. You will be missed, Sherry.
Remembering a friend and RGH PT co-worker. Sherry shared her skills and expertise with so many patients and with us shared what a devoted mother she was to her children. Her smile and positive attitude was infectious. The world is a better place for her to have positivity touched so many lives. Wishing Sherry’s family the peace of happy memories as l lift them up in my prayers.
My heart is very heavy as I write this – So so sorry to hear of the passing of Sherry. Although we didn’t see each other often – we did have fun and connect as “cousins” throughout the years. Sending lots of love, prayers, and hugs to all Wolcotts and Allens.
Words are so hard to come by at this time in a person’s life to make it easier. It never will be easy but know that my thoughts and prayers are going out to you and your family.
