Julie Baker of Fairport, NY, on January 3, 2020 passed away suddenly at age 58.
Predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Baker; survived by daughters Claire (John Dakin), Jill, and Paige; stepson Geoff; parents Joanne and Richard “Dick” Clas; brothers Dick (Marie), Dan, Jim (Pam), Dave (Julie), Terry (Kathy), Andrew; closest friend Terry Jeanne Clas (Vic Del Pozzo); and many nieces and nephews.
Julie was the heartbeat of the entire family. As one of seven, she was the only girl among her six brothers. They remained close throughout her life, meeting almost each weekend at Gigi and Pa’s (her parents) to watch the Buffalo Bills play and laugh together.
She was also extremely close with her three daughters, the four of them known as “The Baker Girls”. When her husband and the girl’s father, Dick Baker, passed away from cancer in 1999, she raised her daughters on her own, with the support of her family and friends. Claire, Jill and Paige have her to thank for the beautiful lives that they have.
She loved to sing and dance, especially when seeing live music around Rochester with her family and friends. She was the life of the party, always filled with love and laughter.
She spent time outside gardening in her beautiful yard during the summer, often with her dad and best friend Terry Jeanne. She was always willing to help, putting all of her creative talents to use for others.
Everyone that met Julie loved her and even that is an understatement. She was the most beautiful person we have ever known, and will forever be missed by her loving family and friends.
Calling hours are Monday, January 6, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home, EGYPT LOCATION: 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity of your choice in Julie’s name.

Sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful woman.
Julie was our neighbor and the first to greet us with baked goods and wine over twenty ago. Her pool and home were always open and we loved having “the Baker Girls” as our neighbors. You couldn’t find a better mom anywhere! She loves her girls and they will always have a piece of her. Our hearts are heavy here at The Grove. Julie will be sadly missed here.
Julie always lit up the room with her smile ….she was a sweet soul. I worked with Julie many years ….my heart is broken for her girls and loved ones. It’s a horrific tragedy. RIP my friend you will be missed.
Julie was initially a friend to me in the electronics industry and the friendship continued to grow well beyond that over the last several years. I remember she came to the Fairport Fire Department Band (which I am a part of) performance at Fairport Oktoberfest several years ago and that opened up my eyes to the REAL Julie. It was so much fun and we will cherish the memories. Our hearts breaks for her family and those whose lives Julie touched.
Sincere condolences. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
We are so sorry for this terrible loss. May your memories of Julie keep you smiling every time you think of her.
We are all heartbroken. Julie welcomed all of us, our daughter Allison, through Jill, and our son Jack, through Paige and we felt the love she had for her three beautiful daughters and their friends. We know Julie as a strong, loving mother, and can only imagine how much she will be missed. The Baker girls will never be apart in spirit. Our prayers and love are with you.

I was a classmate of Julie’s at OLM. She always had a Contagious smile on her face. Our daughters were classmates as well. I always. Enjoyed catching up with her at our reunions… the last being our 40th in 2018. I can See her laughing in our group as we toured the halls. She always was the most outgoing and stylish! So much tragedy in one life. Heartbreaking.

I so wish I had known Julie was spending time here in Canandaigua, literally around the corner from where I grew up. She came to my fitness classes at the Y for a long time, but I hadn’t seen her in awhile and then ran into her at the Fairport Music Festival , summer of ’18. Huge smile as always, and so full of energy and love as always. When the news broke late Thursday, I never could have imagined that someone could do that to such a sweet soul, My heart breaks for all of us who mourn her loss now, her family, friends, and I hope that the person who took her will never, EVER have a moment’s peace.

Our neighborhood has suffered a great loss. Julie was a tremendous person and accomplished so much after her loss of Dick. Her raising the girls as a single parent was a great accomplishment. Our family enjoyed watching the girls grow as youngsters, constantly back and forth to the Dunham’s, enjoying every day as kids should. Our family’s sympathies go out to all the immediate and extended family as you start to heal.
Our hearts are heavy. The entire Fieldston Grove family, former and current wish the girls and her parents peace.
My condolences to the Baker and Clas families. I worked with not Dick and Julie at Ginna. You couldn’t have asked for better colleagues. Julie will be missed by many.

Deeply sorry for your family’s loss. Julie was one of the first people I met when I joined the Boat Club, she was incredibly encouraging and welcoming. She had a way of making me smile and feel better no matter what was going on. It’s hard to believe that she won’t be rowing on the canal this summer. Deepest condolences.
Julie’s happy smile will always be remembered. We were lucky to have you in our lives.
Like many, I know Julie because of the work we do… our business relationship dates back at least 15 years. In the simplest of forms, I was Julie’s customer. However, from day one, it never felt like simply a customer / supplier relationship… and I credit that to Julie. She will be remembered for her innate ability to make a typically mundane subject matter become something more, something with a personal touch. Though our paths would only cross a few times each year, I always looked forward to those meetings. I embraced the fact that my day would now be better, simply having been blessed with a few moments of “Julie time”. Needless to say, she is already missed. Rest in peace Julie…
Julie was an incredible source of light, laughter, and positive energy to everyone in RBC who knew her. We will miss her terribly. My deepest condolences to the Baker and Clas families.

I was priveledged and proud to have served with Julie on the Empire ERA Board. A friend first, Julie’s positive attitude and contaigous smile would always make everyone’s day a little brigher. Julie’s leadership was to give of herself first without hesitatation, so that other’s could have the best experience possible. She was passionate about service to others and to charitable causes which she worked hard to have represented in our group. A terrible loss to our community, I will miss her along with our Empire ERA colleagues and express heartfelt sympathy to Julie’s family for their loss.

When I wanted to get rowing back into my life, Julie was the reason it stuck! Friendly and ever optimistic, she made her boat mates feel welcome and important. She had a great self-deprecating sense of humor and loved to see people happy. In my mind’s eye, when I say her name, all I can see is her smile.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Julie was a joyful presence in our RBC community – she was so warm and welcoming to every new person and her smile could light up the entire canal. We will miss her deeply.

Julie,
Thank you for all the love and care you provided to Chance during his time alone in New York while attending RIT with Paige. You are an amazing woman and I trust your reunion with Dick was joyous beyond belief. One day your whole family will be together again. Until then I will watch over them.

Been off the grid for a few days, just found out the sad news. I worked closely with Julie for five years at Ginna Station. I remembered telling her when my wife was pregnant with our first child. She was so gracious and positive in her response. I saw the same glow on her and Dick’s face when they announced their engagement. I couldn’t have been happier for them. I miss them both especially when thinking of humorous times at work and on RG & E trips. God bless the families.
Julie was a classmate and friend at St. joe’s and OLM. She was always full of energy and joy. The Clas and Baker family will be in our prayers.

I was a close friend of Michael Millner, who held Julie in high regard to the end of his life. He described her to me as “pretty…smart…accomplished…fun”. And Michael loved loved loved Julie’s girls. He kept Claire, Jill and Paige’s school photos framed, on a table in his home for many years and he held them in his heart to the last day of his life. His heart would be broken by this tragedy, and I am certain his spirit will be with Julie’s girls always.

I had the opportunity to work with Julie a few years back, and she was always kind, strong, and such a positive person. This news is as sad as it is unexpected. I am sure her joy for life, which showed brightly in everything she did, will be missed deeply by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. My deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.
my prayers to Julie’s family. May God give you the strength to get through this very difficult time.
They say ‘Time heals all wounds.” Not true. Time does not heal a shattered heart. What time will do however, is help you to accept, the unacceptable. I pray that that time comes soon for all who adored this obviously, unique and beautiful, one of a kind woman. My heart hurts for her family, Her parents, her brothers and her children. I am so very sorry this happened. Please know that so many are praying for you. Praying for strength to get thru this next journey you were all hurled onto. Why in God’s name something like this happened is beyond our ability to even understand. But Julie is safe now, she is free and at peace, where she is watching over all those she loved. She will send you signs so you will know she is with you. She is never far away. My deepest sympathy to you all.
Loving Julie Baker as her next door neighbor for 12 years! All our Fieldston Grove Family loved her too! We will never forget!! So Sad So Sorry!

This is such sad news. I spent my childhood with the Clas family, first on Hartsdale Rd and then down the street from Farmbrook Dr. So many fond memories. My heart goes out to all the family. I will always remember Dick, Joanne, Dick, Dan, Jim, David, Terry and Julie but I never met the youngest. My Dad, Jack Geier also sends his heartfelt condolences,
I. went to St. Joe’s through 8th grade with Julie. She was the nicest person ever. Always smiling and a friend to everyone. So, so sorry to hear this.
This is horrible news to start the new year with. As Jim said, we go way back with the Clas family and they were a big part of our early chiidhood days in Irondequoit. My heart goes out to the entire family and I wish you all the best in this sad time.
As my brothers said this is such sad news, the Clas family were our closest early childhood friends on Hartsdale Road in Irondequoit and one of the reasons we were all happy to move to Penfield was because we knew they would be living nearby. All our love.
I remember Julie fondly from St. Josephs and Mercy. Her smile was always so bright. My prayers are with her family and friends. So very sorry.
