Scott D. Dovan

June 23, 1961 – April 29, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Scott Dovan on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at the age of 62.  He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Dovan and brother H. Bradley Dovan.

Scott is survived by his brother Kris (Jan) Dovan, sister Diane (Bruce) Strobeck, sister-in-law, Tierney O’Brien Dovan and aunts Jean Dovan and Patricia Dovan.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as friends and acquaintances.

Born and raised in Fairport, New York, Scott was the youngest of four.  His parents loved and instilled strong family values when raising their children.  Scott loved music.  As a young man, he taught himself to play the bass guitar, rhythm guitar and the drums.  All these skills were displayed while he was a band member at his church during the Folk Masses.

Many of Scott’s happiest times were camping (especially in the Red Creek, NY area), going fishing, and sitting by the campfires and relaxing with his good friends and drinking a cold beer!  He liked to watch NASCAR races, attended the car races at Watkins Glen a few times as well as various local car show activities with his brother Kris.  Scott also loved chocolate and getting scratch offs for the family get together Christmas Eve, a tradition he carried over after his father passed away.

Although quiet and reserved, living a simple life, those that knew him over the years considered him a friend.  Memories of his sense of humor and fun laugh will be greatly missed.  Scott was a dependable, dedicated, and skilled employee while working at Heritage Packaging in Victor, NY.

Per Scott’s final wishes, there will be no service at this time.  Instead, we ask that you privately, in your own ways, celebrate Scott’s memory.  We know that he will be with us all in spirit.  Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.

Anyone wishing to donate in Scott’s memory, please consider donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP – Western New York Chapter) www.supporting.afsp.org

OR to your local Animal Shelter.

I have been lucky enough to share an amount of time with Scotty during our younger years with he and his family. I know Scotty as being a quite peaceful individual who was a pleasure to be in the presence of. He leaves a soulful void in the world that will always remind the world of who he was!
Please except my condolences to the entire family. Bless you all.

    Diane, Bruce, Kris and Jan,
We want to extend our condolences to you.
We have 40 years worth of memories of listening to Scott practicing his music as we sat on the front porch. Watching him wash his truck in the driveway and of course being at the annual “Corn Roast”.
We pray that your memories can bring you peace and help you through these difficult times.

I’m so sorry for your loss and wish you comfort during such a difficult time. Scott was one of our pouch machine experts at work and I had to frequently bother him in the middle of production to take photos or film for the marketing dept. I know being on camera was never high on his priority list, but I will always be grateful for his willingness to help, his patience with the process, and his quiet but friendly presence on the floor. He will be greatly missed by our HP family.

I am sorry to hear about Scott. Growing up next door we were about one year apart. When we moved to Fairport it was Scott who befriended me and introduced me to the boys in the neighborhood. He was a great friend and neighbor. Although I moved away and haven’t seen much of each other over the years I admit that just last week I was thinking about him.

I pray that he is at peace and I thank him for the great memories.

  9. I am so sorry for your loss. I am going to miss Uncle Scott greatly. I wish I had seen him when I was in NY, so my kids could have met him. My brother and I always had so much fun when he’d come to visit my parents and hang out. Rest easy Uncle Scott, I know you’ll be watching over all of us. I hope you’ve found your peace.

Scott’s passing was a shock to all of us at Heritage Packaging, but we are all comforted by the thought that he is now at peace. During this past week many fond memories of Scott have been shared by his Heritage family and we all offer our condolences to Scott’s family. His quiet demeanor, sly humor, stead-fast attention to details, and perfect attendance made him a model employee; and one that is greatly missed.

I still can’t comprehend this. Scooter you are a brother to me. You were the best man in my wedding. You are my best friend. One year and six days apart, we were growing old together. When it’s my turn I’ll meet you on the other side. Rest easy my friend. I love you.
