Fairport NY, formerly of Penfield and W. Irondequoit.  Grace peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in her home at the age of 96.  Grace is pre-deceased by her husband Gene, sister Esther McGee, parents Anna & Harry Karweick, brother Harry Karweick Jr., and son-in-law Ron Pape.

Grace is survived by daughters Nance Pape, Janet (Howard) Sharp, Sandra (Scott) Smith, Adele Garvey; grandchildren Lisa Gardner, Jeff (Tammy) Pape, Douglas (Dana) Sharp, Kristen Crofoot, Suzanne (TJ) Antonoff, Alex (Damla) Smith, Margaret Smith, Rachel (Josh) Jacobs and Neil (Gina) Landry; great grandchildren Catherine and Erica Gardner, Dylan and Adrian Pape, Abigail and June Sharp, Kensington & Reese Crofoot, Natalie, Bethany, and Trace Antonoff, Cash Jacobs and Emma Landry; nieces Lynn (Dave) Fleming, Dorothy Goldberg, Barb (Lew) Hyde, Karen Hill, and nephew Jim (Deb) Garvey; and dear friends Dawn Lorenzo and Linda McBride.

Born in Rochester, NY December 21, 1923.  She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and was confirmed at Reformation Lutheran Church.  Grace met her husband, Gene Garvey, a member of Zion Lutheran Church through Luther League activities.  They married on May 18, 1946, living in W. Irondequoit during their married years and attended Resurrection Lutheran Church.  After a move to Fairport NY, they became members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Grace worked for Eastman Kodak Company and James Conolly Printing Company.  Grace served as a substitute organist for several churches in the Rochester area, participated in bowling leagues, Penfield Seedlings Garden Club, Silver Sneakers, was an avid follower of The New York Yankees and Syracuse Basketball Team, along with all of her grandchildren’s sports games.  Many fond memories and lasting friendships were made on Placid Place, W. Irondequoit and Lazy Trail, Penfield.  Grace cherished her family and friends, and they in return adored her.  She was famous for her homemade macaroni and cheese, and her assortment of Christmas cookies, with frosted cut outs everyone’s favorites.  Summer vacations on Canandaigua Lake provided family memories from early marriage years right through to grandchildren times.  Grace was the true matriarch of our family, a mother whose love for her family and time with her family brought her great joy.

Calling Hours Friday 4-7 at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road Fairport. Funeral Service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

We would like to thank all the wonderful aides who took such loving care of Mom.  Thank you to her doctors and nurses and UR Medicine Home Care for guiding us through her last days in hospice.

Contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in her memory.

A life well lived they say about select people. Grace was her name and with grace she lived. I never recall a word spoken in elevated tone or harsh in the years we knew her. of mind and with sly wit she leaves all of us a legacy to admire and follow. All are the less with her passing.
