Jim’s Story

James (Kubie) Kubarek was a loving husband, father, son, son-in-law, grandpa and friend.  He was a very gentle, kind and sensitive man who was always the last one to arrive and the last one to leave any party he attended.  He put everyone before himself, never complained and was always positive. He was the definition of inspiration, courage and selflessness.

Jim was born in Auburn, New York, to Lucien and Dorothy Kubarek.  He was the youngest of three children; Susan and his twin sister, Jane.  He spent his childhood in Liverpool, NY.  He graduated from SUNY Canton with an Associates degree in Construction Technology and received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from RIT.

Jim was a loving husband and father.  He met the love of his life, Marcia (Dublin), while attending Canton in 1970; and they married on April 7, 1973. They have two daughters: Michelle Kubarek and Andrea (Paul) Richardson, along with 5 grandchildren: Hunter, Emma, Mackenzie, Bryce and Carter.

Upon leaving Xerox Corporation, he was a well-respected realtor with over 30 years in the business; and was an active member of the Pittsford Rotary. He enjoyed spending summers with his family on Canandaigua Lake relaxing, fixing things, and “almost” catching a fish. He was a skilled handyman.  Jim will be greatly missed by his colleagues, clients, and anyone that was lucky enough to come in contact with him.

We would like to thank our family, friends, and all the doctors and nurses for their overwhelming support.

Jim was a true gentleman and friend to all. We worked together at RE/MAX for more than 25 years, and Jim was one of the most well respected members of our organization and the Real Estate community. God Speed my friend!

  3. My deepest sympathy to each of you for your loss. When death overtake our loved ones, we feel helpless.  We can take comfort in knowing that our heavenly Father is there to help us during this difficult time. He is close to the brokenhearted.

    Kubarek Family,

We were both surprised and sadden to learn of Jim’s passing. Jim was the key to both of my daughters being able to buy their first homes. My girls both bought HUD homes, these purchases were difficult and time consuming…but Jim was there through it all and he treated my girls like they were his own. Knowing how much Jim cared for his own family, I knew my girls were in good hands…every step of the process was related to an experience he had with his daughters and with every he story told it was clear how much he loved his family. We are truly sorry for you loss, Jim was one of the most kind and caring individuals we’ve had the honor of knowing.

    Marcia,
I was heartbroken to hear of the passing of Kube. He was always a joy to work with back in the days of Coldwell Banker in Fairport and then again at Re/Max in Pittsford. Real estate was not just working the numbers for Jim but to put his heart and soul into each client he worked with. Please know that Jim was always talking about his family and his passion for them was something to live by. It is rare to find someone so pure of heart in this world we live in but I know that when it comes my time and I see Kube there- I will know that I am in Heaven…

Hello – my name is Aqil Dharamsey and I heard about this very sad news over the weekend. I got introduced to Jim while I was looking for investment properties in the rochester area. He was very patient and extremely trustworthy. I had a lot of respect for Kubbie. Rest In Peace my friend.
