Sorry for your loss and also happy for you that you were able to spend a lot of time with him in his final days. Wish I could be there for you and family right now, but I am there in spirit.

Roy was Dorothy’s 1st cousin. They did not know that the other existed until a chance of meeting in Florida. Once discovered, it was an intense and warm relationship that kept us engaged with each. other. Roy and Mary Jane were truly the greatest. I know that when Mary Jane died, Roy continued to “pray” to Mary Jane. I think that we can do that with Roy.

Correction from my earlier comment, Dorothy was Roy’s cousin 3 times removed. In the contacts with each other, they both reflected that mail contact had existed by their respective parents.

My condolences to the entire Lotzar family. Your parents were lovely people and I enjoyed meeting them both. They were very special family/friends to my parents Fred and Dorothy. Over the years we heard many stories that involved golf, shopping, lunches, and dinners in Florida. Realizing that Roy and Dorothy were 3rd cousins meant the world to my mother, it was the first cousin she knew on her fathers side. She had never meet anyone with the same last name. I can not express enough how important both your parents were to my parents and how they are grieving with you. It was fascinating to see the family resemblance in both Dorothy and Roy’s hands, they were identical!

I didn’t know Roy, Sr. personally, but I’m Tom Roessel’s sister-in-law, and I know that Tom had such high regard for him that he served as a father-figure to Tom for many years. I’m glad that Tom got the chance to personally say good-bye to him recently. My sympathies to the family for the loss of a good man.

There are only a few of us old timers from Birch Haven left in the park. Mary Jane and Roy were the fist ones I couldn’t wait to see when the season opened. They made you feel so welcome and loved whenever I saw them. Big smiles and hugs everytime. Seeing them come back from fishing in their red Lund, and that welcomimg whoever made it up those stairs at dock one. I will miss you Roy as I have Mary Jane for many years now.
