John Henry McAdam of Fairport passed away peacefully on Thursday January 12th after a long illness.
John was born in Franklin Square, NY July 15, 1945 to John and Eileen McAdam who both preceded him in death.
An outstanding athlete growing up, he was “All Long Island” in baseball, basketball and football by the time he was a HS junior. After serving as a Military Police Officer overseas, John went on to a career as a buyer and manager in retailing before joining Truck Stops of America as a Corporate Merchandising Manager.
John took great joy and pride in watching his sons in their sports endeavors from Little League, throughout college, was involved in coaching and was a member of the Board of Directors for Fairport Little League for years. His cooking, cocktails, uniquely blunt humor and honesty will be sorely missed!
John is survived by his sons, Ryan and wife, Kaeley, of Rochester, Corey and wife, Brooke, of Victor and by his daughter Tina Anesh and husband, Mike, of Florida. He is also survived by his brothers Tim (Joan), Neal (En), and sister Eileen (Jim).
John adored and loved being around his grandchildren, Grady, Brenna and Kira McAdam as well as Hailey, Sarah and Hayden Anesh.
John is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved and we are sure, hopes will carry on their holiday whipped cream fight traditions!
He is also survived by his former wife, Mary McAdam VerLee of Fairport.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased in death by his brother and sister in law, Greg and Eileen McAdam.
In lieu of services, please consider making a donation in John’s memory to the Wilmot Cancer Institute at URMC who treated John so wonderfully the last few years. Linked below:

I used to work with John at Travel Ports when he was over at Brooks Avenue. I always thought of him as a true gentleman and so enjoyed his humor and his stories. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
We shared so many happy times with John over the years. Especially through the 80’s, before the move to Fairport. John was always a good & dear friend, his sense of humor and ability to enjoy a prank was always at the ready. A solid friend that will continue to be remembered with many shared memories, and with genuine warmth and much love. God Bless and Keep You, Rest In Peace.
