Trapani, Shirley Anne

Shirley Anne Trapani died peacefully in her home at age 70 on January 12, 2023. She is predeceased by her father, Frank DeVito. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul, her mother Eleanora DeVito, son Seth (Kate) Trapani, and daughters Kasi Trapani and Sadie (Stephen) Hendrickson, as well as grandchildren Raylan Trapani and Hazel, Meta, and Desmond Hendrickson.

Shirley attended Martha Brown Middle School where she met her husband, Paul, in 7th grade. They started dating in 9th grade and were married in 1974. Shirley and Paul had a long marriage of love and respect that served as a beautiful example for their family.

Shirley was a joyful and curious person who never stopped learning about new things and was excited to share her learning with her children and grandchildren.

Among Shirley’s passions were cats and cat rescuing. She rescued and loved many during her lifetime. Shirley also had a passion for food and cooking. She shared recipes and ideas for delicious food up until the very end of her life. Shirley enjoyed the ocean and spent time with her family in Maine and New Hampshire. She was a creative person and a talented seamstress who made all of her own clothes in high school. Shirley always knew the right gift for a person and got so much joy from giving.

Shirley will be remembered for her bright smile, the ease with which she laughed, her huge capacity for love, and her strength in the face of adversity. She was devoted to her family who will miss her immensely. They thank her for everything she taught them in life and will continue to teach them as they hold her in their hearts forever.

“Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.” – Rossiter Worthington Raymond

A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held on August 13, 2023 from 2-6pm @ Perinton Park Building/Shelter 99 O’Connor Rd. Fairport, NY 14450. Remarks will begin at 3pm.
