Louis “Lou” Montante, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather left this world on April 28, 2024, at the age of 94. Lou was born on April 13, 1930, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his kindness and warmth.

Lou is survived by his loving wife, Christine, son, Michael, sister, Gay (Petrone), grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Florence Montante, his son, Samuel Montante (Andrea), and his daughter, Patricia Barney (Larry).

Lou was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His impact on his family has been profound. Lou spent many years serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was very proud to serve his country and his service took him to many parts of the world, including Japan. After years of hard work, and commitment to the health and wellbeing of his wife and children, Lou spent most of his time teaching and fostering determination, kindness, and integrity in his grandchildren. Later in life, Lou had the opportunity to share his smile, his wit, and his unconditional love, with his great-grandchildren as well.

Lou Montante was one of a kind. He was one of the most intelligent, sarcastic, and genuine people we have had the chance to know. He taught us right from wrong, he taught us how to respect ourselves and others, and he lived his life, until his final day, reminding us to seek happiness, to cherish time, and to fiercely love those close to us.

Service will be held for Lou on Tuesday, May 14th, at 11:00am at Assumption of our Lady church in Fairport. Services will be followed by a private burial ceremony.

    Chris and Kids,
Sorry I won’t be there to say bye to my cousin. Our relation goes back to when we were kids living across the hall at 530 Clinton Ave. above Romeo’s grocery store in Rochester. Will remember the good times and laughs we’ve had. Rest in peace Cous.

We are not able to be there, but are so happy to be able to watch the live stream. Thank you for your blessings on our family and for being “Papa” for Rachel. We love you.
