Plotkin, Dr. Kenneth E.

Fairport: January 16, 2015, at age 54. He was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, The Ohio State University, and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. He interned at University Hospitals of Cleveland and completed his residency in neurology and fellowships in sleep medicine and epilepsy at Georgetown University Hospital. In 1995 he joined the faculty at the Georgetown Sleep Disorder Center and was interim director of the Epilepsy and Neurodiagnostic Division. In 1999 he moved to the University of Rochester as faculty of the Strong Memorial Hospital Epilepsy Center and served as medical director of the of the U of R Sleep Research Lab. In 2006 he followed a dream and left to create Sleep Insights, a sleep medicine practice.

Ken was a man of great compassion, empathy, and humor and he was loved by all who knew him. He was an entrepreneur who devoted much time to the Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester, Syracuse, and Binghamton and Pittsford Crew. He was an avid skier and ski instructor. He was the beloved husband of Carol S. and loving father of Alec, Natalie, and Lily, brother of John (Kim) Plotkin and Dr. Betsy (Richard Spore) Plotkin and adored son of Dr. Franklin and Patricia Plotkin.

Memorial services will be February 8th at 3 PM at Temple B’rith Kodesh on 2131 Elmwood Avenue. Donations can be made in Ken’s name to Angiosarcoma Awarenes, Inc. at www.cureasc.org
