Fairport – Monday, December 21, 2020, at age 88, from complications of Covid 19. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Marsteller) Robinson, his son, David (Lisa) Robinson, his daughter, Nancy (Douglas) Alvut and his grandchildren, Ben (Shirley) and Cal (Miranda) Robinson and Caroline, Thomas and Elizabeth Alvut. 

Charles was born October 18, 1932 in East Orange, NJ the only child of George and Irene (Canfield) Robinson. He graduated from Miami University of Ohio and received the PhD in Electrical Engineering from MIT. During his employment at American Optical Company, in Southbridge, MA and later at Xerox Corporation, Webster, NY he did research in optical effects in materials and obtained several patents. 

Charlie was a life-long electric traction (trolley) enthusiast, being a trolley historian, author, modeler and during his retirement, a trolley operator. He ran trolley cars at the New York Museum of Transportation in Rush, NY and at Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, ME. His book, Houston North Shore, written with co-author Paul DeVerter, chronicles the interurban trolley that ran through his home town of Baytown, TX. 

Burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield will be private
