I believe that Harvey was a cousin of my Uncle Gordon DeWitt and his brother Harold DeWitt who way back when lived on Kittering Road. The memory of Harvey was when My Aunt Evelyn was staying out at the farm, when the DeWitt Folks went away for a short time, and took me out to stay with her and Harold.
Harvey had what was about a 1932 Ford Roadster which he used to wind up on Kittering Road which was a gravel surface at time. Harvey took my Aunt for a ride, and I can still see the dust flying as they rounded the curve down the road and came to a flying stop in front of the house with dust flying all around. As I remember, Aunt Ev was white as a sheet when she crawled out, and somehow I have never forgotten that.
I often attend the Macedon Center Methodist Church Men’s Breakfast on the second Wednesday of each month, and thought I would stop in sometime at Harv’s Harley Davidson, which I believe one of the daughters runs, to see if Harvey was still around, and earlier this month I again thought I would stop in.
I guess the moral of the story is when you think of something you ought to do, it’s best to do it, because the opportunity might not come around again.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all…and thanks for listening…Bob.
So sorry to hear Harvey passed away. Last time I saw him was at Doug Witt’s Wake last year. We grew up down the road from him and Millie on Kittering Road. So sad. He will be missed. Kim you are in our prayers.
