Perinton, NY

Louis passed away on Friday, January 8th at the Veteran’s Home in Batavia, NY.  He was predeceased by his father, Louis, his mother, Antoinette, and his two brothers, Arther and Richard. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, his son Michael and his wife Joni and two grandsons Matthew and Cameron, and his daughter, Kristie and her husband Roger and two grandsons Johnathan and Joseph. He is also survived by his two sisters Esther and Phyllis and his brother Andrew.

A memorial grave side service at White Haven will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the NYS Veteran’s Home in Batavia at 220 Richmond Ave. Batavia, NY 14020. Thank you.

Louie was born in Geneva, NY on January 23, 1937.  He and his family moved to Lima, NY when he was six. He loved sports all throughout his life.  He was an avid baseball, basketball, and soccer player. In Oct 2002, he and his team were inducted into the Hall of Fame for winning the Northeastern US Amateur Cup in Soccer. He was the goalie. He joined the Army in the late 1950’s and became a member of the 82nd AIRBORNE, a parachute infantry. He just missed the Vietnam War, returned home and was enrolled at RIT for classes in Tool and Die making.  After getting his apprenticeship in this field, he married his wife Ruth, in 1964, and they settled down in Fairport, NY for 54 years. He worked at Xerox as a tool and die maker for many years until he was struck down with Parkinson’s Disease.  After Ruth retired, they went on many trips together which brought so many wonderful memories for each of us.  Soon both Michael and Kristie had two sons each which gave us so much pleasure being grandparents.  I am so grateful that after being married for 56 years, we have met so many wonderful friends in the three neighborhoods we lived in, friends from where we worked, groups we joined, and from our church. Many of you remember his dry sense of humor wherever he went and his love for playing euchre at the clubhouse, our journeys with our Supper Club friends, our prayer groups at our church, and his fellow workers at Xerox.  I want to also give thanks to two special friends, Del Shelhammer and Gene Bailey who took him to lunch each week. He is now at a place where there is no more suffering.

I can still remember all the good times we had at the Park Road gatherings playing baseball and laughing with Louie. And those memories are from almost 50 years ago. Good thoughts never fade. Ruth, thinking of you and your family at this time and sending hugs and prayers your way.

Ruth and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember camping with you many years ago with fond memories. And the 4th of July that was so rainy that we had to leave and go back for our stuff later. But Louie just left your tent there! I hope your wonderful memories and support from family and friends bring you comfort. My sincere sympathy and prayers to you.
