Carter, Richard Stanton “Dick”

Fairport:  Died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the age of 83. He was born in Detroit and raised in Capac and Galesburg, MI. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. During his 33 year career at IBM he was awarded numerous awards and several patents. Upon retirement he and his wife spent several years traveling the country. He especially loved the desert SW and fishing trips to Northern Canada. He will be remembered for this sense of humor, his love of travel and love of family and granddaughters.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Eileen Carter; daughter, Vicki (Brian) Sherry; 4 granddaughters, Alexandra, Brianna, Michaela and Katarina Sherry; half sister, Nancy Carter and half brother, Donald Foster. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Webster Carter; mother, Florence Foster; step-mother, Dorothy Carter; sister, Mary Ann Hulett and half brother, Robert (Bob) Carter.

He will be laid to rest in the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.  No other services are planned at this time. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, Make A Wish Foundation or a charity of your choice.
