Batavia, New York: Rosemary E. Disney, born August 29, 1927, in Batavia, New York, passed away on July 30, 2014, at St. John’s Home in Rochester, New York, where she had lived since September 2013. She was the eldest of eight children of J. Kenneth and Jean H. (Gordon) Miller. She was predeceased by her siblings, Barbara Talbot, Patricia Willis, Gerald Miller, Priscilla Cowan, Suzanne Miller, Marianne Larson, and Terri Miller. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Johnston, as well as by her second husband, prominent Rochester pediatrician Dr. Frank A. Disney, and by her third husband, prominent Rochester oncology surgeon Dr. Charles D. Sherman. She is survived by her two sons, David Johnston of California and Todd Johnston of Georgia, her two brothers-in-law Arthur P. Willis of Connecticut and Dr. Daniel P. Larson of Aubum, New York, six grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Rosemary attended Rochester Institute of Technology for training in art and design. She created decorated eggs in the style of Faberge, designers to the Russian tsars, and wrote the book, The Splendid Art of Decorating Eggs. She created beautiful pieces of artwork and became known for her collections as well as her designs and decorating. She traveled extensively through America and Europe, appeared on national television programs like Good Morning America, and lectured locally as well as nationally about her work. She designed works for Kodak Galleries, Cartier, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Chanel, and Hallmark Galleries, all in New York City, and for Avignon Delacroix Designs in Paris, France. Her artwork can be found throughout Rochester and America, mostly in private collections. In addition to her art and design work, she was an award-winning poet and author.

The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 8, at All Seasons Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, in Pittsford, New York. There will be no calling hours. Memorials and contributions may be made to the charity of individual choice. Private interment at White Haven.
