Edwin Maher, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 8th in his home in Fairport,NY. Ed is predeceased by his son Thomas Maher and daughter-in-law, Loretta Maher.  He is survived by his loving wife, Florence (Johnston) Maher, and three surviving children – Christine Moore (Daniel), Edwin Maher, and Jacquelyne Mazza (Ralph).  Ed took pride and was dearly loved by his eight grandchildren: Eric Mazza, Jessica Maher, James Maher, Luke Maher, Connor Moore, Danielle Moore, Christopher Moore, and Mary Moore.
Born on February 14, 1932 in New York City to Edward and Margaret Maher, Ed and his four siblings moved to Rockaway Beach where he spent his summers enjoying the beautiful beaches. Ed attended Far Rockaway High School and after graduating enlisted in the Army where he joined the 82nd Airborne Division and was a veteran of the Korean War. Ed made his career as a salesman with Boyertown Casket Company in NY and married the love of his life, Florence Johnston on October 15, 1960. This past October they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Together they raised their four children near the beach in Neponsit, NY. Eventually, Ed went to work for Marcellus Casket Company. After retiring as a salesman, Ed did carpentry work for the NYC Parks Dept. which he really enjoyed. Ed was a true family man and enjoyed spending his retirement years visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Five years ago, Ed and Florence moved to Fairport, NY where their daughter and her family, along with his son and his family reside. Calling Hours Monday July 12, 2021 4-6PM at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11 AM at St. John of Rochester Church in Fairport.

    The Mahers are such a beautiful, loving family. I have such admiration for their closeness. I’m certain ed is smiling lovingly at all of them and awaiting the time they will be together again with God. Sincere condolences as we keep all of you in prayer.
