Delmus Purvis was a good man. A great Husband, Daddy, Granddaddy and friend. He had a heart of pure gold and would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. A man who enjoyed playing Uno but only if you let him win, puttering around in the garden with his faithful sidekicks Bandit the cocker spaniel & a black cat named Black Cat. He carried a Swiss Army knife with him wherever he went. A man that would sing “Here she comes, Miss America” when you first woke up. He was a Navy veteran, worked on the Bayline in Florida, was a civilian planner at the Marine Corp Supply Center in Albany, Georgia and made an excellent retiree. He made the best boiled peanuts and chocolate milkshakes and even though he could be a little grumpy he was always quick to throw you a toothy grin. He loved swimming in his pool on hot Southwest Georgia days and he loved his wife fiercely and faithfully until she passed from Alzheimer’s in 2011. We believe that he has been reunited with his true love, his Ladybird. We believe he has found peace and joy in the arms of Christ. We believe we will see him again.
As one of my Mom’s friends said, “To live a life as long as his and to create a family as beautiful as he did is a truly amazing accomplishment.”

So sorry to hear of Delmus’ passing. I loved his stories about being in the navy and working on the railroad. I’m so glad he was here with you these past several years. I know he’s rejoicing to be with Letha again.

Karen and family. I have just learned that my friend, Delmas has gone home to be with the Lord. My mind went back to so many happy times Weldon and I shared with him and Letha. Gospel sings, how he loved those. I love Letha and Delmas as family and one day we will all see each other again. My love and deepest sympathy.

We so enjoyed getting to know both Delmus & Letha. I too, enjoyed his stories & Southern sense of humor.
